For our eGroup September forum coming up next week - Tuesday 6th September we have Gary Pennefather, a 30-year veteran of Perth’s Tech scene, to talk about his experience in growing tech start-ups beyond Australia.
Gary has been involved in a number of companies that have grown from scratch to multi-million dollar enterprises – both in Perth and the US. Most recently he spent 6 years as CEO of iCetana, leading the company from a fledgling university spin out to a rapidly growing business with customers in over 8 countries and a subsidiary operation in Dubai.
Gary has ridden a number of tech cycles - through the 80s electronics boom, the 90s telecom and dotcom bubble, to the current rise of software eating the world. Somewhat unique in Perth, he has been involved in deep IP start-ups throughout each one of these cycles.
Gary will tell us about his journey, the successes, the failures and some of the lessons learned from the many road bumps and set backs along the way. He will discuss some of the key challenges and insights in growing a business with an international focus from Perth.
